Concealers: First Impressions

I picked up this concealer as a change from my normal go to concealers of Maybelline Fit Me or Collection 2000 Lasting Perfection and I have to say I will definitely be purchasing it again. The product definitely lives up to it's name as the colour and product most definitely does 'stay'. I would say this is a medium to high coverage and as a good 8 hours wear. I was so surprised to see it lasting the whole of my working day through air conditioning and very hot offices! The only downside to this concealer is the shade range - The shade selection consists of 4/5 shades, this isn't too much of a problem for me as I am always the lighter shade however I can see it being a problem for darker skins!

I bought this as I fancied trying something different to my Rimmel Match Perfection concealer, which I have stayed faithful to for quite a while as it is great at hiding dark circles. However, I love this Bourjois one just as much, and in fact perhaps a bit more as it has a pink tone to it which helps to enhance and cancel out those dark circles!

What are your favourite concealers? Let me know!

Dealing with Life Envy

I hate to admit it but I am someone who is very much glass half empty than glass half full. Its something that I'm working on but it's a personality trait of mine non the less.

One of the things I've been dealing with recently is something that I call 'Life Envy' the feeling that the grass is always greener on someone else's side than it is to yours. At the moment a lot of my friends and family are getting new jobs, buying their first house, getting into brand new relationships where as I have stayed put and things have been rather consistent, and while that's not a bad thing. I think I speak for many when I say you can't always keep a positive view on your life when just scrolling through your newsfeed brings up a tone of engagements, babies, career changes and new homes. I am so so happy for my friends that are going through these and when I speak to the people closest to me many people say that different things happen to different people at different times. But when I have a bad day, I've got to admit I do look back and wonder if I've made the right decisions.

So how do we overcome this feeling?

Remember that you are not failing.

This is when a bit of 'you' time comes in. You need to consider why you made these decisons, and why you feel you are failing. Take a positive spin on your thoughts and look at why you feel things are different compared to the people around you, and do you actually want to be exactly the same as everyone else? It is important although difficult, to see your achievements and also use the time you are feeling reflective to develop a plan for what you want for yourself.

Talk about it.

Although you may think that all your friends are doing better than you I can guarantee that when you sit down and open up about how you are feeling they will feel exactly then same about their life. Or they can take it on the flipside and encourage you to be as positve and happy about their goals and achievements as you are about theirs.

Take yourself off social media (even if only for a couple of hours)

I think social media and namely Facebook is one of the biggest causes of 'life envy' and it is the one thing you can take yourself away from pretty easily (as hard as it may seem). Sometimes it's about taking yourself out of those situations, off a screen and in a nice relaxing bath or reading a book. Suprisingly we don't have to have our phones in our hands in every situation and while it might not work when you're relying on that important text I do think stress and overthinking comes from our reliance on technology.

not a beauty related post this week but I hope it was helpful non the less!
I hope to be posting more regularly again soon!

Loreal Mega Volume: Miss Hippy Mascara

When it comes to mascara for most people it is a general marmite love it or hate it situation. When it came to this mascara however, it is definitely a LOVE situation.

I love a good volume mascara but what can I say I'm demanding... I want great separation and lasting power... Not just a clumpy gloopy mess.

I must admit I haven't seen this advised very much by Loreal but picked it up when it was on offer in Boots last week. For £6.99 I wasn't expecting a massive difference but how wrong I was. My lashes feel lifted and didn't drop at all all day.

I had a little help beforehand with my Shu Uemera eyelash curlers but other than that this product worked really well all day.

Loreal Miss Hippie Mega Volume is £6.99 at Boots also available in waterproof.

Have you tried any new mascaras recently?

Sanctuary Spa 'Cooling' Range

ooo I love a Sanctuary product me. I love their scent, how luxurious they feel and long they last on my skin. So when I noticed these in Boots recently it seemed rude not to pick them up :) and I'm glad to say they didn't disappoint. While some Sanctuary products are more of a relaxing pamper evening product these are more of a 'get up and go' product and perfect for summer with their 'cooling' properties...perfect!

Love love love this body sorbet, great for anyone who hates to apply the sticky body lotion on a hot day. This is more of a refreshing gel with a slight shimer rather than thick and sticky...those are much better for cold winter nights! Product is easy to squeeze out of the tube and for £7.00 for 200ml I'm not complaining! (also alway on 3 for 2!)

Perfect shower 'drench' great in the mornings when you quite frankly need the beauty equivalent of an alarm clock. As well as moisturising and 'cooling' without any intense 'tingle'.

and lastly the scrub! Ah I love this, perfectly buttery and moisturising this scrub isnt skimping on those all important bead for the weekly exfoliating crapIbetterfaketan situation (...is it just me?)

What are your favourite summer time shower routine products?

A little note...

Hello my lovely readers!

I just thought I'd catch up with you all and fill you in with a few bits!

Firstly I'll start by apologising for not posting in over a month. I've had a lot of personal issues going on and while this is no excuse I've always said that I won't force myself into posting as I think it comes across when the writer isn't inspired.

Moving on to some good news though, I'm delighted to say that I've been chosen as a member on the blogger panel of Reading Fashion and Beauty Network. You can read more about them here. This will enable me to grow by readership and allow me to network with other individuals in this area, which is great as blogging can sometimes be quite isolating if it's just me and my laptop!

I'm going on holiday in a couple of weeks so I hope to bring you a couple of outfits and travel posts as well as the usual beauty posts!

Hope you understand and here's too more interesting and consistent content! :)

Much love!

Clinique Moisture Surge

I've decided to take it up a notch in my skincare regime, having been stressed, with anxiety levels being high as well as being dehydrated as usual (I'm working on it!) it was time to look into what I could do to inject some more moisture into it.

Step up, Clinque's 'Moisture Surge' range, I picked up the face spray and the moisturiser around six weeks ago and have been trailing them ever since. I use these products in the evening as this means I can hydrate my skin and repair it overnight. I will also be taking the face spray on holiday with me in May to refresh my skin in the sun.

I would throughly reccommend this range for someone with dry combination skin, although I am more on the combination/oily side and this still works well for me in my night time routine.

What skincare products are you loving at the moment?
